Monday May 14th: Andre Canniere Group + Alex Roth / Joe Wright Duo

This week, an amazing double bill featuring trumpeter of the moment Andre Canniere and his highly lauded band, and a duo of two  of the very finest young musicians in London!

Andre Canniere Group

Andre Canniere – trumpet

Hannes Riepler – guitar

John Turville – piano

Ryan Trebilcock – bass

Jon Scott- drums

Alex Roth / Joe Wright Duo

Alex Roth – guitar

Joe Wright – saxophones

Trumpeter Andre Canniere is one of the hottest names around on the UK jazz scene; since the release of his recent album Forward Space on Whirlwind Recordings, which gained him a five star review in the Guardian not long ago, musicians and the music-loving public have been hipped – if they weren’t before – to his powerful playing and composing. His compositions are original and memorable and often cross the traditional boundaries of genre, infusing jazz and classical styles while drawing inspiration from folk, rock and pop music. Joining Andre for this gig is his regular group, featuring Parliamentary Jazz Award winning pianist John Turville and the impressive and prolific Hannes Riepler on guitar.

“Insanely Infectious…An intelligent and stimulating amalgam of jazz and rock elements. For all their jazz sophistication Canniere’s tunes often have a song like structure and flair for melody”
The Jazz Mann

Guitarist Alex Roth and saxophonist Joe Wright met while studying at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, where Roth is currently completing his masters. Both formidable young musicians, expect and intimate and interactive duo full of twists, turns and surprises. Alex Roth won the 2011 John Dankworth Prize for Composition.

This will be an amazing evening of jazz and new music – we hope to see you there!

As ever, doors 8:30, music from 9pm; entry only £5
